It felt gay to do commentary for the Stories Issue. What are we going to say, “Oh, that was a good story. I liked that one” or “Mmmm, meh, not my cup of tea”? Doesn’t work.
So what we did was we got a bunch of people and to tell us their number one story of all time. It’s usually not one they liked the best but more a story that all their friends like and they have to keep telling over and over again.

The beauty of these stories is they have been told and retold so many times it’s like asking The Kingsmen to pound out “Louie Louie.” There’s no kinks. If you go here you can hear the following 8 stories: a yarn about a guy whose best friend is mentally ill, a bunch of tales about what a douche Rufus Wainwright is that includes an angry phone message from a fan, a disturbing missive about a tourist who thought everyone in New York was in the movie Biloxi Blues, a misunderstanding where a guy thought two girls wanted to bone him, another misunderstanding where a girl with a fat ass thought we were talking about her, a sad anecdote about a bunch of naïve Canadians (us) getting hustled by black prostitutes, an incident wherein a nazi skinhead is about to kill a guy but has a nervous breakdown instead, and finally, a court case that was thrown out because the judge confused the word “banana” with “bandana.”
