Yahoo reports Republican delegates unanimously voted to add an amendment to the draft of their platform they plan to present at the Republican National Convention next week deeming pornography a “public health crisis.”
“Pornography, with its harmful effects, especially on children, has become a public health crisis that is destroying the life of millions,” reads the amendment. “We encourage states to continue to fight this public menace and pledge our commitment to children’s safety and wellbeing.”

While the draft of the platform already addresses the need to fight against sex offenders and child porn, North Carolina delegate Mary Forrester initially suggested the amendment in an effort to keep people from getting addicted to porn—which may not even be a real thing that actually exists.
While the healthcare, education, and crime subcommittee focused on addressing socially conservative ideals like Obama’s transgender bathroom policy in public schools and the need to repeal gay marriage, they seem less concerned with addressing what the American Medical Association has called an actual public health crisis that affects millions of American lives: gun violence.
