The Slayer Rules project started last year, in June 2004, when Slayer played at the Download Festival (at Donington, it used to be called Monsters of Rock). They didn’t tour the UK till later in October, so we followed them for a couple of months. During the tour we took pictures of their fans, and after a while we started interviewing them about what the band meant to them. We met one guy in a wheelchair who lost his job for his love of Slayer and a Russian guy named Kerry who was updating his tattoos to make them look exactly like Kerry King’s.
