Altered Earth [iPad]
Artist Doug Aitken has created an earthwork installation from the surreal landscapes of Camargue and Arles in Southern France, which explores their shifting ecosystems and geography. The multimedia project also includes this app, which allows you to journey around these otherworldly lands, exploring the enticing imagery and the evolving forms of these regions through films, graphic documents, texts, installations and music.
I’m Getting Arrested [Android]
What with the whole world seeming like one giant rioting protest as we loom ever closer to the prophesied end of the world next year, this app’ll be handy for you just in case you go out to pick up some lunch one day and end up getting arrested while fighting your way through tear gas. With one click of a button you can send an SMS to any number and alert your boss (and lawyer) that you had a bit of a detour and might be a bit late back.

Book Creator [iPad]
Ever wanted to create your own digital books using your own photos and self-authored plot line? Then look no further than Book Creator. It means parents can make up their own Gruffalo-esque tales to read to their kids, or you could e-book your web comic, or maybe even start off down the road to becoming an e-publishing sensation. The virtual books are published in the e-pub format—which is a recognized standard for e-books—and can be submitted to the iBook Store, meaning you could actually earn a buck on it.
