Creators Remix Roundup Week 38

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn’t keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Björk: “Crystalline” (Matthew Herbert Remix)

Videos by VICE

Good things happen when creators join forces. Alongside the release of Björk’s app-only Biophilia LP, Creator Matthew Herbert is poised to release a remix album of the Icelandic princess’ new work, with support from Omar Souleyman and four-time Grammy Award-winning producer Serban Ghenea. Herbert combines elements of fidget, glitch, and a heavy use of sampling, building a veritable world of sound around Björk’s hair-raising vocals. Despite an internet-scouring takedown of most of the Biophilia remixes, Herbert’s genre-defying remix of “Crystalline” is still up and streaming on Some Kind of Awesome.

Mark Ronson: “Record Collection” (Perseus Remix)

DJ, producer, creator, East Village Radio host, and all-around badass Mark Ronson is set to release a remix album featuring the likes of CSS, LOGO and Database, of his 2012 revamping of the track, “Record Collection,” from his 2010 release of the same name. Three-man electronic outfit, Perseus, takes the track to new heights, creating a lush, seven-minute ode to 80s pop and debauchery. Dancing shoes recommended.

Fool’s Gold July 2011 Mix

Fool’s Gold Records, the masterminds behind Duck Sauce, Chromeo, and Jokers of the Scene (to name just a few), just put out their July 2011 Mixtape, featuring mixing by the lightning-powered fingertips of none other than A-Trak. At two minutes over an hour, A-Trak runs the electronic music gamut, starting with disco house, diping into electro, and finally culminating in some seriously crunchy techno. Definitely something to start your Friday night off right.
