Winter Melts into Spring in a Seasonal Timelapse

In his latest video’s description, photographer Alf Pilz asks, “What is the most beautiful season?”

“Many people would point at spring,” he answers, “are they right? I don’t know—but they are not completely wrong, at least!” In twilight magic – botantics, spring loaded, Pilz backs his indeterminable claim with over eight minutes of springy, timelapsed evidence. The film has a distinctly floral focus—with several frames dedicated to Spring’s most photogenic flora, shaking off the winter chill and blooming into the warming air. It also lapses together some stunning moments of seasonal transition, featuring melting snow, clouds clearing, and frost liquifying in split seconds, all timed to the soothing sounds of MACRIMA and Ed Haydon. While timelapsing the seasons in fast-forward is admittedly nothing new, Pilz contributes a lovely addition to the mix, speckled with a few truly GIF-worthy gems of nature’s yearly rebirth.
