“Déjà Vu” from Bournemouth brothers YOOFS is tasselled pop in it’s purest sense, with harmonies that hark back to The Zombies fraternising with briney surf rock guitar lines. It’s a melodic sulk of a song, the boys lamenting “Oh brown haired boy, you came on too strong”, the blue eyed object of their affection leaving them to trail the sleeves of their big baggy melodies in pints of cider. Recorded at their home in Bournemouth last summer, their modestly named LP Something – out in February – is about being skint, jobless and dumped, experiences that they managed to turn into something much catchier than lying in bed crushing clothes moths in an attempt to vent your frustrations.
