Taurus, April 2018

Taurus season is almost here!

Welcome to Aries season, Taurus! April opens with Mercury retrograde in Aries, finding you in a sleepy mood—but hey, when don’t you want to take a nap? Watch out for arguments on April 4, when Mercury clashes with aggressive Mars, and for obstacles around communication or travel on April 5, when Mercury squares off with the planet of obstacles, Saturn.

Your planetary ruler Venus connects with serious Saturn on April 7. This is a lovely time to reflect on commitment and boundaries, to hammer out your budget, and to get real about what’s actually important to you. Tension will be in the air when the Sun squares off with Pluto on April 11—watch out for jealousy, obsession, and power struggles; however, a touch of romance will also be in the atmosphere, as Venus will make a harmonious connection with Mars on the same day, finding people eager to connect. Be careful not to make excuses for bad behavior, but do enjoy the sexy, passionate energy that’s flowing! A softer vibe will take over once Venus connects with dreamy Neptune on April 12, creating a lovely vibe, especially in your social life.

Another exciting day for your relationships is April 14: The planet of abundance, Jupiter, will connect with intense Pluto, leading to some profound discoveries, opportunities, and conversations around partnership. Pluto is all about depth, making this a wonderful occasion to get to know someone much better, even though the topics that come up may be very intense. Mars also connects with Neptune on this day, creating a gentle yet proactive atmosphere, putting you in a creative mood, and encouraging you to connect.

A big shift in energy will arrive on April 15: There’s new moon in Aries, and Mercury goes direct! New moons mark new beginnings, making this a wonderful time for you to wipe the slate clean around psychic and emotional baggage, be it through reading up on psychic development or by meeting with a councilor and crying. You might think crying wouldn’t make sense during an Aries new moon, since Aries is the sign of the warrior, but you’d be wrong—Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, making it the baby. Cry it out, Taurus! You’ll feel brand-new afterward. This new moon is also an ideal time to catch up on rest, so try to make time to unwind.

Let’s not overlook the end of Mercury retrograde: Finally, all the miscommunications, delays, and technical difficulties that were in the air will begin to subside. Although Mercury retrograde can feel agonizingly slow, hopefully you’ll have learned some interesting secrets over the few weeks it was traveling backwards in the sky!

Venus opposes Jupiter on April 17, which will find you overindulging quiet a bit, especially within your relationships. Be mindful not to give too much, take too much, or say too much, even though doing so at this time is going to feel so good. On the same day, Venus connects with power planet Pluto, sparking a passionate energy and inspiring you to ask yourself what your values are and what you want in this world. I suspect you will have a very illuminating conversation with someone special during this time—the kind of talk that only happens when at least one of you is a touch intoxicated, perhaps under a clear, starry sky, as you marvel at the beauty of the universe. Those are the kind of conversations that arise when the planet of abundance, Jupiter, and of depth, Pluto, are activated.

Taurus season begins on April 19. Happy solar return (that’s happy birthday in astrologer speak), dear cow! With the Sun out of Aries and in your sign, you’ll be feeling more outgoing, more like yourself, and more eager to get out there and do your thing. (Aries is a vivacious fire sign, and it’s known to have an energizing vibe, but it occupies the sector of your chart that rules sleep, solitude, secrets, and hidden places. This is why your vibe shifts from reflective to active when the Sun leaves Aries for your sign.)

Your planetary ruler Venus enters breezy, easygoing air sign Gemini on April 24. This is obvious to any fan of astrology, but when sweet Venus is in chatty Gemini, it will certainly put people in a coquettish mood. This is even truer for you, little cow. Venus in Gemini will bring blessings to the financial sector of your chart. It’s a lovely time for gifts, or to shop! Ask for a raise… actually, ask for anything you want, because charming Venus in persuasive Gemini can charm its way into getting anything!

A full moon in Scorpio arrives on April 29, which will be a big deal for your relationships. It’s Taurus season, which means the solar spot light is on you; however, the Moon’s focus is on Scorpio, a mysterious water sign that symbolizes the death and rebirth. You, Taurus, are all about being comfortable, lounging on spring’s green grass in the warm sun—not slinking around some dark pit with the scorpions, watching (and smelling) things rot and decay. Not cute! You’re ruled by Venus, so you’re honestly all about “cute,” but try to see things from a new point of view during this intense and uncomfortable full moon.

And, hey, why not use the energy for something useful? Surely there’s a thing, situation, relationship, or pattern you’re in that you don’t need or want in your life anymore. Full moons are always great times for release, and a full moon in Scorpio is especially cathartic. And despite the emotional turbulence and exhaustion in the atmosphere today, there will be supportive energy in the air, too, since the Sun will make a harmonious connection with the planet of structure, Saturn.

Good luck this month, Taurus, and see you in May!
