The New Year signals new beginnings, and 2017 is shaping up to be a new era for Chicago's own Flosstradamus, which earlier this week went from duo to one-man show with the announcement that member Josh Young is leaving to pursue his Me2 side-project full-time.The announcement came from Young himself this past Tuesday (December 20) via an Instagram video. In it, he says he actually decided on going solo at the end of this past summer, but wasn't able to publicize it until after Flosstradamus's latest tour wrapped. "I have so much love and respect for [former production partner] Curt and the whole Floss management and crew… and most of all, HDYNation," he says, adding that new music is imminent come the new year.The festival-trap favorites have been working their way up the ladder for over a decade, hitting the big time with their raucous remix of Major Lazer's 2011 single, "Original Don." They released EPs on Fool's Gold, Mad Decent, and Ultra Records; and collaborated with artists including Iggy Azalea, Juicy J, Travis Porter, Waka Flocka Flame, Lil Jon, and Post Malone. Earlier this year, they launched a record label, Hi Def Youth.Questions as to whether or not Flosstradamus would continue post-split were answered later that day by its remaining member, Curt Cameruci, who wrote on Facebook, "The reports of Flosstradamus's death have been greatly exaggerated. A movement does not stop when one of its founding fathers goes abroad—it only gets bigger! Flosstradamus will continue and I am excited to carry the torch. Josh will always be a part of the #HDYNATION and we wish him the best on his future endeavors."
