A Paintbrush For The iPad

The iPad is a device that has facilitated many uses when it comes to getting creative; from DJing to music production, light painting to finger painting to hologram creation—the iPad’s seen them all. And now, for the first time, a paint brush is due to be released for the iPad. Artists have been painting on the iPad and iPhone for some time using the Brushes app and various stylus pens or their fingers. But not a brush, until now. Looking like a conventional paint brush, with a long stem and soft bristles, this stylus bridges the gap between old and new technologies, taking a technique that goes back to cave paintings in France around 32,0000 years ago and updating it for use on a portable digital canvas.

Nomad Brush is created by Don Lee and will be available in February 2011. While we don’t know how successful the Nomad Brush will be as an artist’s tool, it certainly looks the part—elegant, slender and sleep—but we’ll have to see how it handles, compared to a pen or finger, when it comes out. By the looks of it, only one size of brush is available at the moment, but it will be interesting to see if different sizes and styles can help achieve different results and techniques.
