Enigmatic in both identity and sound, Burial is a captivating figure in modern electronica. His releases since 2006 have redefined convention, and today you can hear the ethereal post-trance aesthetic in the work of scores of producers, including recent phenomena Machinedrum and Ramadanman.
Kindred EP is three tracks in thirty minutes, each as epic as the rave precursor to this sound but somehow not nearly as cheesy. The organic nature of Burial’s production style continues to play a big part in his sound—every minute of Kindred builds on rough layers the way a shoegaze track might, but it’s undeniably electronic music. The UK has led the way in club music for decades, and Burial is their most recent prophet.
