Back in 1988, genre-defining rockstar David Bowie sat down with music executive Joe Smith, for an interview that would come to be part of Smith’s seminal text, Off the Record: An Oral History of Popular Music. Nearly three decades later, their conversation has been commemorated by the good folks at Blank on Blank, a self-described “multimedia nonprofit with a simple mission: [to] curate and transform unheard interviews with cultural icons, bringing them to life on YouTube, radio, mobile apps, and beyond.”
