Quiches Gone Wild

Quiche is probably the tamest picnic item out there. Favourite of Continental mums, its squishy, eggy taste just can’t compete with the excitement of unwrapping a Babybel, and “Lorraine” may well be the least cool name ever given to a foodstuff containing bacon.

But you haven’t encountered Claire Ptak’s quiche. This ain’t your average savoury pastry cowering in a tin foil container. Claire’s quiche does Spring Break in Miami and gets its crusts out for the lads—this is quiche gone wild.

It’s all thanks to the addition of garlic—wild garlic, in fact—which infuses the creamy egg filling with a punchy aroma. Claire, who owns Hackney bakery Violet, then crumbles feta onto a buttery, handmade base and decorates with wild garlic flowers.
