How a Massive Crane Constructs Itself

Have you ever wondered how gigantic cranes are built? Turns out they do it themselves.

Shot in the Seattle area in 2007, this video provides an elevated time-lapse view of a crane hauling up new sections to add to its height. Each section is attached inside a narrow scaffolding by a team of workers, and then the crane “grows” upwards and is ready for its next segment.
